Vegas Drift VD024

So today was Vegas Drift 24, and the day begin with a nice drivers meet in a crowded area on a second floor, the wind was cold but it was sunny out.

I started with the Intermediate course and it was alright I thought I can do it but I have forgot one thing, I didn’t get much seat time with the new springs & perches that I purchased for the rear end before the last event.  since I know and feel I can do it but my car said no, every time I would attempt to initiate it would grip even harder in the rear, This was something I couldn’t get down pack from last event due to the sensor blew up mid drift.

So I have took it back to the beginners course to see what is wrong.

Start up turn would be not great at all as it would grip really hard even with the tires balding from last event so I ended up spinning out or grip to the next cone. So first thing come to mind is I should of brought the Canuck Springs since I have yet to still do the coil over conversion to the fronts still.  This is my main problem is the suspension setup is wrong to even attempt this.

So I just went a head and burned up the tires doing donuts and attempt to see if I can adjust to the bad setup. I should have known, it will be hard to adjust so I went ahead and had fun anyways.

When I finished burning up the tires I went ahead and attempt to change tires, from there I broke 2 lug studs. So I said fuck it, I’m done for the day. Since I already know my problem is I decided to hold out and watch the rest of the day, and not to forget it’s lunch time so time to enjoy my lunch.

That wraps it up for this day,  I would love to do February event but do to my job status, I might have to put it on hold. Coil Over setup is pending with income tax return since.  All I need now is Q45 front brake setup + coils over the most expensive part.

I still have a few more things to straighten out.

Road for 2013….

A few things have been decided for 2013, as much as I want to get good enough to try out for Vegas Pro-Am but I have to prioritize a few things this year I need to step aside drifting unless I get hired full time with Caesar’s Entertainment.  I am preparing to use my unemployment to start up RavenPC full time from this on out. What this means I have to cut everything spending wise just to make it successful, this includes my seat time with drifting. =(

Couple of things that is required that I need to achieve as a short term goal this year.

  • My own residence
  • Stable income

When these are met, I will be going in full force with drifting again as I want to go pro.

S12 Build update… and VD024

Jan. 27th 2013 is the day of redemption for me.  Since last time my sensor blew up mid drift, and lost the rest of the day due to figuring out the issue.

New steering rack will be in today, going to try and use the s13 inner and outter tie rods for this as I also slowly make my way to build the s13 coil over fronts. I also have to order some front tires to replace the ones I damaged coming into work.  Going to order some Federals 595RS R’s for the front and going to start looking for front brake upgrade options at pick a part.

Vegas Drift is doing it on the northern part of the track here. So this could be a desert themed PARC?  perhaps, we will see when it comes down to the final day.

Throttle Cable goes snap!!!

Yeah this has been a plaguing issue for a while now and it finally snapped while parking in the paris parking garage.

So I have created the new cables with the a bicycle brake cable and new ends.

So I went back to work, turns out the cable I made was just too short so I had to do something so I can get her home. I went completely  “Pro JDM Status” and ziptie the throttle cable so I can get her home to make the right cable.

So after I got her home I remade the cable and shaved the barrel end and this is the final product.

Fail-rady Silvia! updates…

A wild wall appears, how do you want to want to proceed?
Hit wall while turning right at 15mph!

Yep, bent the Steering rack, so now I have to replace that on top of a dozen of misc. problems and issues that I have work with. Working on keeping it with the s12 steering rack as it’s a bit narrow and it was a good suggestion with Waylon at Firestone about it. It will keep me with the awesome angle.  I could really use some help with this car,  granted it’s going to take a bit, but I really wished I had the help in replacing parts. Most of the time I am flying blind on how to replace things.

So now i gotta replace the steering rack, replace the inner and outer tie rods as they are also bent.  I also need to replace the timing belt before I get another surprise. On top of that the the front caliper I suspect is sticking on me now. I might have blown the caliper when I changed the lug stud.

That week beginning with the drift event felt like a horrible week, felt like it has been nothing but a stressful week.
